Mission
The ‘Stepping Stones’ project aims to achieve a zero-dropout rate among elementary school students transitioning into secondary school. Our goal is to inspire and motivate students to take that first important step forward, while also opening their eyes to the many opportunities education can offer. By highlighting the value and long-term impact of continued learning, we hope to encourage students to envision a brighter future and feel empowered to pursue it one step at a time.
The Problem
The current problem that we’ve found is that many elementary school students are dropping out before transitioning into secondary school. This often happens because they believe education has little value or will not benefit their future. In many cases, parents share this view or face financial difficulties that prevent their children from continuing school. As a result, students are denied the chance to build the foundation they need for future success.

Why I(Emmy) started this project
School dropout is a problem which is frequently mentioned but often overlooked. Seeing the little support and attempt to help this problem made me realize that inaction towards this was creating an even bigger problem. Students were missing out on so many opportunities that could shape their future. So, this time I decided to take a step forward and do something about it. As a student myself I’ve never considered dropping out, instead I’ve always thought into the future - university, jobs, and all the possibilities available to me. I personally have always believed that everyone else felt the same way. But after seeing statistics and going out to visit schools in more rural areas I realized that this was not the case. Maybe it was the difference in communities or maybe it was the lack of access to all this extra support and opportunities that I had received in comparison to these students. Nearing the end of my high school life and looking back I’ve seen how much school has helped me to grow, learn, and dream. All the support and resources that have been available to me…
